In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for the alleged killing of a 70-year-old woman during a confrontation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. Authorities reported that the deceased's son, Bijendra Kumar, engaged in an argument with the accused, Majid, who resides in the same area. An official stated that the woman, Ramvati Devi, intervened to defend her son, and during the altercation, Majid reportedly pushed Ramvati, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries. ACP Abhishek Srivastava of Kavi Nagar explained that Bijendra, along with his brother and mother, resided in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna in Madhuban Bapudham. The incident occurred around 12:30 am on Sunday when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver allegedly intoxicated, was seated outside the Kumar residence. A dispute arose when Bijendra questioned Majid's presence, leading to the argument. Upon hearing the commotion, Ramvati intervened to defuse the situation. Subsequently, Majid allegedly pushed Ramvati, causing her to fall and sustain severe injuries near her eyes. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ramvati was declared dead by doctors. Her body underwent a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been lodged at the Madhuban Bapudham police station under relevant sections of the law. Majid has been presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.
